In defense of ignorance, liberty and youth
Cover your ears, my son, my brother and do not listen,
To the 'can'ts' and the 'don'ts' or the car that trails behind you, or the eyes that watch when you enter and when you leave,
Cover your ears my son and do not listen,
Lift your eyes and place it on your goal.
Be ignorant, block out all interference and stare straight ahead.
Cover your ears, blind your eyes, see no prejudice, hear no discrimination.
The whispered words behind your back, the sullen, fearful, distrustful stares.
Embrace ignorance and do not hear, the biting words of  the silver tongued demon that seeks to devour you,
Hiding in the folds of the crowned woman, the shadow cast by the flame called Liberty.
Cover your ears my son, my brother- there is opportunity here, in this land.
Forge your own path- you were brought here for a purpose,
So straighten your back, let the light kiss your sun blessed skin, and the curls stand proudly on your head.
Cover your ears, my son, my brother, and do not listen,
Embrace ignorance and in so doing, you too will find your own freedom.
