This poem was inspired by the older poem - "Footsteps in the Sand". Enjoy.
As I take the first steps into this place anew,
I look back to see what I’ve been through.
I’ve looked back at this time and time again,
But what I see now is not how its been.

The very first footprints, I can’t see anymore.
The ocean washed them from that shallow shore.
The more I look, the more footprints I see,
But they’re still only the ones that are closest to me.

As I look back to during that storm,
Disaster had struck, and my clothes were worn.
But as I see the footprints in the snow,
They weren’t as deep as I used to know.

I can still remember that blistering cold,
I felt weak but I was bold.
How my knees shook,
And my pale, pale look

But even at the worst of it,
When each step felt like a deep dark pit.
When I looked back at it again,
The ocean washed away, and the snow filled in.

But as I take a closer look,
I start to see what I mistook.
For not one set of footprints is what I see,
But two sets, walking right beside of me.

But now I must turn around,
As the sun starts to lower down,
I start to see the road before me end,
I know I might not be here again.
