This is a poem about the search for a religion that harmonizes with the Bible
The Orchard
The orchard was as large, as I had ever seen
Trees of apple abounded, although it was not pristine
Because the lack of water, and the scorching sunlight
All the trees were arid, and all were full of blight

Looking throughout the grove, where the barren trees remain
I see the tragic waste, and began to disdain
The ones that had allowed this grim, unkempt condition
Like they planned this ruin, with careful precision

The fruit was quite sparse, and the trees without a leaf
And when I pick the fruit, it was beyond belief
The fruit that was there, was rotten and had spoiled
My temper flared up, and then my blood boiled

Walking through those acres, some green caught my eye
And when I saw the tree, then I began to cry
The tree was by a river, and it's boughs full of fruit
The valley kept it cool and the river wet it's roots

The fruit I picked was firm, and  the color red
When I went to taste it, I began to dread
When my teeth sunk in, I was pleasantly surprised
The fruit was quite delicious, I quickly surmised

I looked to see if there, was any other green
But through the grove of brown, that color was unseen
I began to understand, that there was only one
And that tree was healthy, standing in the sun

As I look around this world, and the religions I do see
None produce the fruit, similar to that tree
Jesus said many would go down, the road of destruction
And that false religion, would be, like a seduction

Today the world's religions, are like that rotten fruit
And if you're on that road, you're on the wrong route
The fruitage is all withered, dried out and corrupt
And the fate that she will see, will be very abrupt

Is there a religion, that has fruitage that is sweet
And when you taste it's fruit, it is like a treat?
Ones that loves their God, more than all others
Loves their neighbor as themselves, as well as their brothers

They would never go to war, and never have a fight
Never be immoral, and try to do what's right.
When they commit a sin, and hurt their loving brothers
He goes to him in private, instead of telling others

Those that are like Jesus and produce that loving fruit
Will stick to God's commands, and never will dilute
They will preach the Kingdom, as Jesus once did
Although not accepted, and even some forbid

Is this kind of love, even possible today?
You can see yourself, if you only pray
But you must be hungry, honest as well as humble
And when you find the truth of it, please do not stumble

The truth is very clear if you try to see
If you look to find, the truth will set you free
