Travelling down the memory lane
Lashing rains bring memories

Of a hometown.

With water dripping from wet hair,

Dashing towards home-

Newly stitched uniform

Fully drenched,

Anxious mom waiting at the doorsteps

Cursing the unending rains of Kerala,

Drying our heads with clean dry towels

A sneeze from my sibling working her to frenzy.

Blessed were we

A warm home and a warmer mom were our lot,

Unending paper boats floated

On the puddles of water

Stood witnesses of a wonderful childhood.

Whistles made of coconut leaves

Helped us fill the house

With senseless happy music.

Now when silence hits me back

In a house filled with more stillness

I know what poetic moments are,

They were the ones

Hidden deep in the

Soils of Mahabalis land.
