This poem is about war and I decided to write it after studying some war poetry at school.
Mazes of mud, etched, into the bloody battlefields,
Filled to the top with ignorant soldiers,
Soldiers unaware of their future, that is to come.
Bang, silence, fear and terror.
All around the men fall down.

I was one of these soldiers,
A soldier, who feared tomorrow,
We waited each day,
We waited for our death to draw near.
Bang! Silence. Fear, and terror.
All around the men fall down.

Rats feasting on the banquet of men’s feet and dead flesh.
Screaming shells: flying overhead;
Flying to their destruction.
Machine guns shaking in anger.
Bang! Silence. Fear, and terror.
All around the men fall down.

Endless emotions running through our minds.
The wondering, and the waiting,
The agony, and the pain.
We watch our friends fall down,
Falling down, just like skittles.
Bang! Silence. Fear, and terror.
All around the men fall down.

We watched them shaking on the floor,
Grown men, calling for their mother’s,
Until their pain finally ended.
Bang! Silence. Fear, and terror.
All around the men fall down.

Looking down, I saw it;
The pain. The shock. The fear, and the terror.
Blood soaked my worn-out uniform.
Never have I experienced this abnormal feeling.
I think the time is here, -
It is time for me to die.
Bang! Silence. Fear, and terror.
All around the men fall down.
