flowers as gifts of romance
crushed violets
scattered in crystaline vase,
fragrant pot-pourri

dried tulip petals
cupped in handmade clay bowl,
blood red on gray

fragile pink rosebud
laid in carved wooden box,
the length of its stem

burgundy silk carnation
sitting on pillow on the bed,
smiling gaiety

Love always leaves a trail.
