A poem I wrote for somebody special
I didn’t
I didn't buy you perfume, because you already smell so nice.
Nor did I buy you clothes, for that wouldn’t be a surprise.
I didn’t buy you sugar, you're already sweet.
Nor did I buy you lingerie, for that wouldn’t be discreet.
I didn’t buy you crèmes, you don’t need any.
Nor did I buy you virtues, you have so many.
I didn’t buy you a joke book, you’re already witty.
Nor did I buy you flowers, for that would be a pity:
I didn't buy them, because they would look withered in comparison to you.
In fact, I didn’t get you anything, but I wrote this poem just for you.
