It shows the desperation of missing a loved one who's not there for whatever reason
I wake with you each morning and I miss you,
At breakfast we will chat but you're not there.
I ask about your latest, (for a preview,)
I smile and touch your hand, but it's elsewhere.
Then over lunch we share a glass of merlot,
Discussing plants while eating cheese and ham,
The words seem true, but really I’m in limbo,
I wipe a tear, I don’t know where I am.

You showed me where to plant the rose this morning,
Reminding me to feed and then to spray,
I’m talking to myself, (is this a warning,)
You say it looks like rain the sky is grey.
You smile and let me know that all is lovely,
A smile that always takes my breath away;
Your right about the rain the air is balmy,
We gather tools and put them all away.

The evening rain beats on the patient window,
Your music choice, it sounds like Simply Red,
We finish off the wine that leaves a warm glow,
You whisper that it’s late and time for bed.
I lay and dream of all the things you bring me,
Such love and peace of mind for us to share,
I stretch my arm across the bed beside me,
Remembering those times when you were there.

Tomorrow we’ll go fishing bright and early!
You tell me only if the weathers fair…?
