A poem written about a past relationship with a soldier
My heart and soul, torn into pieces, tears dripping down my face.
There you were to hold me tight, to be my friend
You wiped my eyes, then told me that everything was alright
That night both our hearts racing, palms sweaty, I leaned in and kissed your tender lips
You pulled me closer and asked me not to stop.
Our lips parted, I rested my head on you shoulder
You whispered in my ear that we would never be apart.
What happened? Why did we grow so far from each other?
I lay in bed thinking about the time we spent, and the way that my hand always fit perfectly in yours.
Then I stop and ask myself. Will it ever be?
Will you and I ever feel the love and closeness we felt before?
Time and distance has separated us, but in my heart you will always be the soldier who rescued me.
