something about the ocean...
I walk along the beach,
the sea breeze in my hair,
the sand between my toes,
the saltiness in the air.

The sea that has been around,
since the time of the dinosaurs,
since the dawn of the new age,
through all of humanity's wars.
The rocks that have been eroded,
to form the sands beneath my feet,
to form shells in various colors,
where the sea and land meet...

The waves rise and fall,
in response to the blowing wind,
the sky is at its best,
a blue sheet with balls of lint.
The gulls circle in the sky,
while water replaces the sand beneath me,
I feel the gentle tug of the waves,
which become dangerous currents farther out to sea.

And thus I think in wonder,
how nature is able to avoid transformation,
while the rest of us have to accept it,
and bear it with utmost patience.
