A simple view of friendship
Sunshine catches your hair merrily
As you laugh and smile at me
I blow a wish a wish in your direction
You put it in your pocket faithfully
Scars ripple across tanned skin
But now they have become decoration
The taste of pomegranates on my tongue
Sweet, bitter, red, unsung
A bird held aloft
A wind that blows just enough
All that matters to me
Is counting the rings on a tree
Hoping you are happy
