a poetry of my story when hacking down an ancient mahogany of traditional belief
                                                                        MAHOGANY

He stood tall and defied my sights
if i were to climb, it will be days and nights
neither words, nor mumuring as i gazed
'A monument of a god' i stood amazed

"Hack him down" the order,
"he is no more enchanted than the green river"
"hack him down" the order
"we will make fortune out of his timber"

A slash and a whack
and we slit his back.
More cuts and cuts,
and we weakened his forts.

He yelled and wailed
till our strenght failed,
and its gushing sap was bloody red
we abandoned our axes and fled.

The salamanders, squirrels and lizards came to it,
the birds, snakes ahd wasps came to it,
and all chorused in harmony
long live the mahogany!
