I wrote this the day of that Challenger exploded.
Challenger



They shed the shackles of time and space,

For one brief moment

the sun shone in their face.



They went aloft with dreams and hopes

their spirits high

as Challenger lifted  off.



Shrouded in gas;

with a thunderous roar

We watched our Challenger

begin to soar.



The children watched with

pride and awe

as she rose like an eagle

high above them all.



The Florida sky; was clear as a bell,

when the

explosion came;

It seemed from Hell!



In the flutter of a heartbeat;

In the blink of an eye;

we knew there was no way

the crew could survive!



Today as a Nation

we morn their passing,

like a stricken mother

grieving her children!



But the mystery of Space

will beckon again

to those men and women

of courage and vision!



That is our future;

we cannot abandon!

If we do; we deny   

the misson of the          

CHALLENGER SEVEN!
