My idea on what a soldier is, in poetry. Inspired by "Medal of Honor" and "Liberty Shield"
The drumbeat sounds. The quick snap of the snare reminding the soldier of what is to come. He swallows in fear.

The trumpet plays its simple melody, announcing the honor of himself. He lifts his chin higher.

The tuba flares. It gives him strength, and indimitation. He straightens his back.

With his eyes blazing, his muscles taught, the Soldier raises his arm in salute to his country.

His home, his family.

Understanding

That here he stands, and it may be his last goodbye. It brings tears to his eyes.

Emotions.

They mesh and combine

In harmony with his music. His anthem. His badge.
