Past love vs. present love(suppose to be a spoken word piece)
Your indention on my sheets
Has never felt this alive before
And I lie here wondering
If we are in love or just lonely enough
To compromise our positions
As we lie next to each other lying to ourselves
So lie to me babe, make me believe you’re the one
‘Cause I stopped believing in love years ago
But there’s something about your fingers laced in mine
That dissolves the concept of time
Making me believe in life after love and love after life
So I’ll lie to you if you lie to me
And maybe someday we’ll learn to believe
That those words we say when we’re going to sleep really mean something
Even though that phrase scares the shit out of me
Your voice can still sing it as I’m falling asleep
Lullabies mixing with movie scene dreams
So tell me, is that love?
Or am I just scared of the silence I hear
When you aren’t whispering in my ear
That life is relative and you love me right now
Girl, I think I could love you forever
But I’ve thought that before
And I want you to be more
Than just a flame on my path
Or a poem in my past
So I’m letting you in these walls
In hopes you won’t tear them down.
I used to be ruthless
But you’re making me vulnerable
So please lie to me babe
Lie to me
