The flame gives warmth and light, but what does it get in return?
The flame brings warmth to all around,
And glows to light the path ahead,
Yet so hot and bright the fire burns,
That none can get near to touch it,
To embrace it in thanks for all it gives,
To kiss it, and show that it is loved,
And so the fire burns, sad and alone,
Cold within despite its outer heat,
For all it has is given to those nearby,
Until it dies, forgotten, reduced to ash.
