Don't let the title fool you- it's a "found" poem we got as an assignment for english.
I am alone.
I am complex in ways that even I don't know
smallest kid with the biggest dreams
others you don't understand at all,
the entire gym arena is dead silent
what seems like forever passes,
from this I have been made the person I have become
I follow their thoughts and make them my own
true brilliance happens here.
A gravitational force that draws me into its welcoming arms
from the sad moments of not wanting to leave,
meant to single out the strong and crumble the weak
always on for the ride, going round and round
all torn up between whether I can pass whatever obstacles are needed,
their trials, their ideals, their worlds
and what I hope to be one day,
never-ending corrections and mistakes
what could be out there?
the weather is chill,
many miles between them and me
a speech that is never spoken
pursue down that road, maybe even lose a life,
count the rings if you cut me down and look at my stump
of beauty, heat, and background beat
and doing it all over again the next day.
What I have done in the past isn't me now,
a petal fallen from the sunflower,
I am falling with no one to catch me.

I am alone.
