Suburbia at night
Street lights form shadows on my roof

artificial moonlight for the suburbs

Nicotine races in my fingers

causing my hands to shake

dusk has fallen to the darkness

trepidatious thoughts flood my mind

like street lights on asphalt

headlights fill the streets

reflecting off the windows

that shield manicured manicans

from the inevitable nightfall

they say money can’t buy you love

and it sure as hell can’t buy you sunshine
