Poem About The Desecration Of Your Mental State After A Break Up
In the confusing darkness that is the depths of your mind
You realise what’s happened, you realise what you’ve lost and what it means
It took a while a few weeks but just when you sorted your feelings
Just as you got yourself back into a routine and on the road to being yourself
All the resolve, the confidence and the peace you’d found fall away
Leaving your mind defenceless and unprepared for the onslaught of emotions
That are breaking out into your consciousness
Destroying you
Consuming you
Killing you
If you could die from pain and loss alone this would be the time
This would be the point where you gave up
Let everything fall apart while you locked yourself away
Or try to run from the pain and the cause
But that’s not possible you know that
It would be noticed too quickly
You wouldn’t get far and they would find you and stop you
And like every other time you would listen and let their needs consume you
While you try to bury for emotions an hurt
You put on a face but you know that no matter what happens you won’t forget
You can’t forget they are everything they complete you
They make life worth living and after all this time you realise
They are your life, your soul, your perfect match
And it shatters everything, all that you spent so long dealing with and building up
It’s all crumbled in an instant for you realise
You love them and always will even though they destroyed you
Hating them isn’t an answer without them you can never be whole
Never be complete
Never be perfect
You will always be incomplete and utterly destructive
And they bought out the best of you, the stuff people never see
And they made it better, yet without them you’re just a shell.
A shell left out to dry like a piece of raw cowhide
While the life slowly drains out of your soul.
Maybe you were meant to spend eternity alone and desolate.
