Part 1 of a three part poetry collection.
The Biggest Joke

I touch your arm
as though I could
hold you pieces together
with my will.
But your face crumbles,
revealing the inner demolition--
a wrecking ball tearing apart
your spirit.

You smile to cover cracks,
but I can still see
ghosts in your eyes--
you’re haunted.

I return your plastic expression,
knowing that all I can do
is share with you in this--
the biggest joke.
