a poem about being a freshman on the first day of high school.
Waking up early and running for the bus.
The morning is still warm from the summer.
Nobody wants to go back.
Back to school.

We get inside and get lost.
Running to classes so we are not late.
But we are anyway.
We are the new ones, the Freshman Class.

The Upperclassmen make fun of us.
But we wonder why.
They were just like us.
It’s just a cycle that goes on and on.

Classes are unusual and interesting.
Unless you didn’t get a lot of sleep.
But either way eventually they all get boring.
But we just have to make the best of it.

We don’t want to go but yet we have to.
To get a good job and make money.
Parents and teachers try their best.
To make sure that we pass the tests.

They don’t want us to fail.
But some people do anyway.
Some even drop out and never go back.
But everyday they regret not going.

We really wish that summer would never end.
But then our lives will never begin.
We will never be able to live up to our potential.
We will never know how to live
