For dad, with love!
Looking back, some decades,
I see a hand, a little child held.

The hand that meant to give support,
To soothe every fear, to give comfort.

The hand that helped the little one walk ahead,
The grip that balanced its every faltered step.

And when in trouble it lay confused,
The hand was there to help it choose.

A decision that may go right or wrong,
The grip on the child seemed ever so strong.

A hand that showed "I care for you",
A touch that spoke "I do trust you."

I look again and there I see,
The hand was you, the child was me.

I see the years that passed away,
I loved you so, but forgot to say.

I admired you, but praise I forgot,
So why not tell you now I thought.

How special you were,
How special you are!

The fifty years that you made through,
Yet I have known just twenty-two.

For me so young you still remain,
Your enthusiasm towards life is still the same.

This, here, is a poem to let you know,
That you are the best and shall always remain so!!
