Pursuing love
my heart all a-flutter I shamefully stuttered
as she traipsed about in the room
and I was entranced when she cast me a glance
but she looked not to me but the groom

alas what a loss that I didn't count cost
of calling to court when I could
but now she's betrothed to a man I have loathed
and I'm left all alone where I'm stood

don't tarry beside and pause for the tide
awaiting your journey to start
take up the chance and ask her to dance
to show her your mettle and heart

so when you get old and your bones have grown cold
you'll count your regrets only few
and loving your wife for the days of your life
twill not be the one that is true
