A brief poem about a lover giving encouragement to their partner.
We made love like lovers
Then laid and slept as friends.
A wish and a night went by
And we wait for things to begin.
A new life a waits
Your spirit anew
Let life not abate
Know this thing for you.
You will go, you will learn
You will live, you may get burned.
But keep this fact close to your heart
When your head is down
And you don’t feel smart
Please know my love will not depart.
You are a good and noble mother
Let not another
Tell you who you are.
Live true. Be strong.
And know that your soul will never lead you wrong.
