The summer was coming to an end... Defeat. A poem about Summer.
Night

The summer was coming to an end.
The word 'last' had an odd ring to it.
What if it was the last day?
I no longer accepted God's silence.

One more hour.
Then we would know the verdict:
Death or Reprieve.
The idea of dying, of ceasing to be, had begun to fascinate me.

This was my defeat.

Summer

Darkness falls upon the lifeless trees.
The ones that had danced and laughed at ease.

The night is as cold as a midnight frost.
And the meadowlark's song is 'forever' lost.

Death is felt among the living.
Greetings and laughter is not to be given.

But all is not lost among this heartless world.
Because Summer is approaching them, and will soon unfurl.
