Revised version of the sonnet I posted a few years ago.
BitterSweet Sonnet

My appetite for you is no surprise
You never cease to tempt my famished soul
Your empty words so cold they crystallize
Like frost, they veil the one whose love you stole

I hear the honeyed vow slip through your lips
To glaze my hollowness with perjured hope
The sap-stained promise is proclaimed, then drips
On dreams that hang themselves with candied rope

But I have dreamed these dreams most every night
Though pained, I seek their torment in my sleep
As time draws near, my skin turns sugar white
Soon shallow love preys on a cut so deep

You come in for the kill, I’ll not retreat
For foolish love numbs foolish wounds, My Sweet
