Poem inspired by sleep deprivation and my life as an English major.
The rain washed away the rest of summer
Now my days are filled with thoughts of
Christian
Starving
Madness
Memorizing the reasons for hunger
Loosing sleep over the religions of others
Literature litters my bed
Pages Scattered
And I sleep on language
Cuddle with the words

Outside others celebrate freedom
Flower petals flee the bouquet
Like pages falling
from the archaic books excavated from the Library
Untouched for decades and now
Discinergrating at my gaze
As if to willingly escape
Another decade
On the dusty shelf
