short work about a woman
Set me out to sea
Lay me to rest in oceans arms
Waves goodbye my darling
Tonight, I plumb the depths

Not sure what I’ll find
Only that I must look
Slipping slowly into deep current coma
To awake years from now to dive again

Cautiously aware of the brine seeping into my heart
An underwater salt lick that never relinquishes what you desire
Wrapping yourself around it to no avail
Dry, cracked lips kissing salty salutations to bitter ends

For when I cast myself aside
To embrace what I was afraid I would become
I not only plunged myself to these midnight depths
I took you with me….
