A poem to winter and my Druid roots
                              The Storms Afterglow
                                        1/8/11

The storm has passed, leaving a blanket of white
Birds shelter in the pines and wait for spring
The silence is complete, and unbroken under gray skies.

The path that winds through the woods and down to the water
Has drifted over, the wind piled the snow at the corners bend
Softening the boulder that guards the way to the waterfall.

The steps that run down the cliff side hide from my view
I know them as well as I know my name, yet they deceive
Trust the old Gods; keep my feet on the path that is unclear.

Down on the valley floor the mosaic of green fields are gone
As the Earth slumbers under her winter blanket of snow
Waiting for the springtime awakening and renewing.

Now is the time to rest and enjoy the harvests bounty
Light the Yule fires, and welcome the love in your life
Rejoice in the season and ring in the solstice of the year.
