A simple poem that questions what defines a person.
I hold to you.
You cling to me.
If I let you go,
Who will I be?

I can’t sprout wings
As love birds do.
I cannot kiss
Like morning dew.

I cannot grow
As oak trees can.
I cannot count
Like hourglass sand.

I cannot whisper
The north wind’s oath.
I cannot love
Like the poets quoth.

I cannot exist
If it’s only me.
If I let you go,
Who will I be?
