A person realizes that everyone doesn't appreciate it when you better yourself.
On this journey for a new me, one thing is for sure,
I’ll gain several new friends but lose a lot more.

I’ll endure the frustration of those who hate progress,
And absorb all their venom that is spewed as nonsense.

Penny for their thoughts they will voice their pain,
Giving their two cents now my pockets hold change.

They’ll notice my flaws and these they’ll display,
And speak of my past in attempt to dismay.

Hostility will grow and eventually peak,
They’ll cast their stones as I turn the other cheek.

Why must they hate one who tries to improve?
Look with disgust, and speak so rude.

So, I am learning but the lesson’s everlasting;
Changing doesn’t mean you’ll make everyone happy.

Pain is needed for progression...A past is needed for reflection....A vision is needed for direction...And a conscience is needed for correction- Amire Ryter
