Another poem about love gone wrong...
How Could You?

I wish you could love me the way you love her;
care for mine the way you care for hers.
The funny thing is I had you first;
and now she’s reaping the benefits of all my hard work.
I’m so hurt.
I’m so angry.
How could I let this happen?
Don’t I deserve all your love and devotion?
I know this may be just a thought,
but I wish I could get my hands on that little…tart.
I see you with her and my hair stands on end.
How can this be happening?
How could you let her steal you away from me?
I thought what we had was stronger than that…
don’t you see?
She can’t love you the way that I can.
She’s just a shiny new object,
a flash in the pan!
But I am steadfast.
I will be here for you always.
Nothing can shake my love for you,
not even that two bit card board display!
I will forgive you anything if you just come back.
My jealousy will be a thing of the past.
As a matter of fact,
I will forget all about this indiscretion,
if you just tell that tart to get to steppin’!
