poem about life and love, written in 2009

what are you trying to do. . .
talk me out of it
back into it and out of it again
isn't it wasn't it a done deal
at the start in the beginning when
the fires blazed across our enflamed flesh
weren't our eyes transfixed, elixed
to the peace of our desire . . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What are you trying to do
still me, chill me with your icy stare
sware me sware upon a stack of holies
upon knees who've knelt and wept sweat
to and past all and every point
crawling past all and every point
to make the point of unsheltered love
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wonder your motive
your reasoning for the smile that
lights your eyes each time i gaze
your ways: upon which I count my days
from day to next
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am vexed to the point of happiness
to the point of unspeakable, indescribable joy
like a child with the toy of his dreams
not willing to part with it for a moment
or a moment of moments
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To look at it not as a possession
but as love.
