Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little to get what you want.
Loud were the children
as they gathered aboard,
when they inched ever further
I begged to the Lord,

I prayed “please do not
seat these children by me,
every time I’m on an airplane
there are always children screaming with glee.”

In front of me they were,
giving each other a shove and a pull,
I remembered that in my bags I had candy!
Three bags full!

They screeched and they laughed,
the sound made me cringe
I quietly poked a shoulder
and initiated their candy binge.

“If you’ll calm down,
all this candy will be yours!”
They looked at each other
Not knowing if they should accept the lures.

But temptation was too strong,
they nodded their heads,
I handed them the candy,
and the quietness spread.

I peered back at an empty case,
where my candy had once been,
although the sugar did please me,
the silence made me grin.

As the plane was landing,
one little girl looked back,
she pulled out a sticker book,
and stuck one to the magazine rack.

I took a closer look,
to see what it could be,
and to my delight,
I saw a smilie staring back at me!
