I am owned by two senior citizen cats. Emmie is about 18 years. She won't tell.
On soft old paws,
she comes to me.

I stroke her thinning fur
feeling the weak bones underneath.

No pain, no complaints
needing a hand up
to reach the dripping faucet,
a sunny spot on the bed

just a quiet purr.
