When someone tells you something 'cause it's what you want to hear? It's like this. Edited
World builds up around her
Inside her soul's collapsed
Society's walls surround her
Lies, her mind lets pass.
Shallow lover speaks in code
A practiced, over used speech
3 words making promises
She knows he'll never keep.
Words she's heard a thousand times
Sung the verses
Heard the lines
Of broken people with shattered dreams
And mannequin smiles, marionette strings
Which deludes their bleak humanity.
They sing:

"Lie to me baby, tell me you love me.
Lie to me baby, tell me I'm your only.
Tell me of our future as we avoid the past.
Lie to me baby, tell me it will last."

Little chiches to childish insults
Cute as a button, to fucking whore
Oh so funny how times change
But the pleas of romantics stay the same:

"Lie to me baby, tell me you love me.
Lie to me baby, tell me I'm your only.
Tell me of our future as we avoid the past.
Lie to me baby, tell me it will last."

No one reads between the lines 'cause their to busy trying to find
meaning in words above and beneath them
No one really cares to see I'm wrong for you and you're wrong for me
As long as we keep holding on and smiling.
Baby can't you see my strings?
Take your words and cut me free!
Careful so I don't lose faith to fast...
And we'll keep singing hopelessly until time fades to black:
  "Lie to me baby..."
