Sometimes love is just a faded memory worth looking back on....
By and By

Walking now along that shore
the tide-washed one where I'd lived before
I soon begin to recall old whiles
of holding hands and affectionate smiles

Of you and I and our cabin small
  set upon the sediment wall
Where our endless days of joy were spent
by fulfilling our dreams with positive intent

I still remember that harsh, cold night
the fireplace crackling, you holding me tight
It was cold outside but warm indoors
where we watched the storm crash upon our shores

Throughout the time we spent together
we stayed content in all types of weather
Until the time of that terrible day
where we had to part and you sailed away

Far across the sea, you said you'd sail
so I cried and said, "My heart will fail,"
"With you I'm a queen, without you I'm dead."
and I cupped my hands and lowered my head

You said, "Don't worry, one day I will return"
and you packed your bags and sat in the stern
Soon sailing away, I'd realized you'd left
for good and this, in time, I'd accept

But you're gone now and I must face that once more
as I've just remembered our love by the shore
But it's not the farewell or the tragic goodbye
it's our love I'll remember by the sea, by and by
