The journey of one relationship.
In the stadium, our stadium
The empty seats cheering us on, singing our fight song
Half loving, half promising
The grass holds an impression of our love
And the story we were supposed to pass on
Our legacy

Tucked away, hidden in our own shadows
Eyes locked on each other
No one speaks
The trumpet and saxophone accompanying our passion
Smoke dancing, an intruder, a witness
Lingering after to tell our legacy

Pressing our heels into the sand
Temporary evidence of our temporary vows
Fingers meshed like lovers
Another footprint, an infant’s, summons shallow dreams
The late sun burning, setting on our paradise
We leave behind our disappearing legacy

Face to face one last time
The gates close on us, the conquered
A lacking hug, an empty smile will be our grand finale
We depart with only a story
Too painful to tell
Our legacy
