Addressed to someone who left, capturing the feeling of being alone
On the shelf are all my things
Boxes of memories and
The Bottle of Dreams
All you need is one sip
And you get to slip
Into your dreams
I'll meet you there
But I'm drinking it all down
To have this conversation

When you whisper in your sleep
What are you whispering
I still sit up in bed at night
Trying to listen to the emptiness
Who's name are you saying
You always leave me wondering
Maybe you left something

I was at the bottom of the second bottle
When the moon finally stood up
I was staring blankly
From the ground at the ceiling
I'm alone here always waiting
But I can't hear over the noise
That you're not making
I didn't know the monsters you left behind
Could be so damn mean
They don't want me lying
In the place you lay in

Where did you put the sun
Or did it just forget to come up
How far did you have to run
Before you escaped from yourself
You know you left some stuff
Still sitting on my shelf

How many bottles do I have to pound
Before my dreams will be found
Now I can't even think and I can barely see
When I look out the window
It's just in time to notice
The world has stopped spinning
Just for me, a never ending night
Without any dreams

I guess I'll start separating
All the things that aren't mine
Too much weight is straining
The shelf is giving
I wonder what I'll find
When I look inside the boxes
I can see my mind,
And look, here is the sun
You knew the whole time
You're just too busy disappearing
Leaving everything undone
And an empty bottle of dreams
