Together, alone.
We sensed ourselves alone in the universe.
Nothing else but the indifference of the world which endlessly circled around us,
through us,
but together
in the stark bareness of this house.
Within the darkness of this room.
We gave ourselves to such seductive comforts -
in absence of light,
and
time,

we plummeted.

As if,
as if the bodies of Heaven grew still -
vast and motionless,
and the Gods themselves who crafted us
did then
approve our union.

And at their whims they requested the moon
and sun cease their revolutions…
For us,
because they knew beings such as you
and I
would waste not
the carnality of this night,
and
the silence…
The silence, I knew, was as hungry for our sounds
as we were yearning to create them.

“Let them echo, so softly,” she said, pleading
and begging as our bodies thrashed.
Wanting for the very reason we wanted.
Fulfillment.

And soon,
through the diligence of craving hands
and a display of overwhelming passions,
so furious
and lovely,
and after kiss upon kiss,
where lips lay upon lips,
the heaviest of our burdens were removed.
As we melted into the ecstatic with
our garments were thrown about the floor,
and around our feet,
and our heads…
discarded.

Like little, unneeded halos.
