This is my first poem. It's about parts of my personality.
Puzzle Pieces
One day I looked inside myself
And just what did I see?
I saw not one but many girls
I saw the pieces of me.
First I met the reader
She didn’t have much to say.
“I learn about life by watching others
I think it safer that way.”
Next in line was the dreamer
Whose imagination was widely spread.
She said, “It matters not if I have friends
I can make my own instead.”
There was the writer, the thinker, and on and on
All of them a part of me
And then at last I came upon
The one I most feared to see.
With her slicing tongue and piercing eyes
She seemed so very cold.
She quickly found the faults of others
And pointed them out when she felt bold.
I see my pieces with their faults
And they are a part of me.
So now I simply have to ask
Which piece of me do you see?
