A lesson in honoring thy mothers (and fathers, I suppose).
Shame! to the hands that swat hers away.
She wants nothing more than to serve you.
Her very soul aches to please you
And how is she repaid?
She is regarded as a pest,
Unwanted,
Unneeded.

Shame! to the mouth that curses at her.
She, who bows before you with a smile,
Humble, resigned, desperate.
For what is she desperate?
She desires for an ounce of
Gratitude,
Appreciation.

Shame! to the soul that takes but does not give.
Everything she is she has given to you.
Her dreams vanished when you entered the world.
She has cast off her identity for a new one:
Mother,
Servant.

Shame! to the one who dares say I am wrong,
For you will be the one to watch her weep
And know that you are the cause of her pain,
When all she wanted for you was
Everything,
Everything in the world.
