A basic love poem. :) About the need for that safe feeling and the fear of being alone.

You could be my dry land
my island
my warm sand
I've been unwilling
but there's nothing to fight against now.
Nature is on our side
if only you'd realize
how I'm drowning
in the salty water
how quickly I'm sinking
there's no land for miles
unless you reach out.
Tall palm tree, bend down
and save me.
Soft ground, cover my body,
let me sleep among the slim, swaying blades of grass
and wake up to you.
Save my life
please tell me
you'd change the face of the earth for me,
add an island where there is none,
replace the waves with tall mountains
and climb them with me.
Then, after we've sweated away our fears
shed the tears we've always hoped to see
breathed in the clouds at the top
plucked grass
from between the warm rocks
watched the birds fly above us
and fallen in love
on dry ground,
then maybe we can swim.
