Written during my years of recovering from self harm.
I reach towards the hatch,

Towards an endless sky,

The end is in sight now,

But do I fall or fly?

I’m so near breaking point,

Something has to give.

I’m on an endless journey,

But do I die or live?

Unreeling the years before my eyes,

My life is stuck on hold.

All the doors are closed for me,

I always feel so cold.

With a heart carved from stone,

People just turn and walk away,

Non-one’s ever noticed me,

So this is what I have to say;

“Help me out of this pitch black hole,

Into a world of love and life,

I need a strong, steady hand to hold,

In place of my glistening knife”

“I’m boxed into my own little world,

Where all I do is cry

Please come and get me out,

I beg you – teach me how to fly”
