This is interpretive poetry of a work penned by Edgar Allen Poe.
You were my fulfillment, dear,
Of all my heart was missing -
My refuge in the torrent, dear,
My service and my blessing,
Surrounded full with succulent beauty,
And all succumbed to me in duty.

But hopes so heated burn so fast!
A wasted wish bewailed
On desires that too soon passed!
From inner voices I am hailed,
The rocky road behind, you must press on,
Speechless, I cannot move, my will is gone.

My path is unlighted, woe upon me!
I can't - I can't - I can't-
(Talk that shores waters from the sea
Though heavy to return they shan't)
But can a tree flower once it die?
How can a broken winged bird fly?

My thoughts are always upon you,
Whether I sleep or whether I wake
I see now what's in your view,
And dance in the steps you take -
In the essence that surrounds me,
And the timelessness that bounds me.
