The facts of life, as I see them.
Really in life when you're happy
You try to cling to the hope
That things will stay as they are now
When really, you know it's a joke.
The pursuit of happiness is noble
The downfall follows the pride
When all must come to an end
Why do most even try?
To live in perpetual longing
A life that most lovers know
The chasing of a dream
The unraveling of a seam
And then darkness is all that you know
This life she giveth and taketh alike
Indiscriminant and cruel
And then cruel to be kind
Somewhere she draws the line
To make it stop and then rewind
And then repeat the circuit again and again
And somehow, still, she is your friend
