This is an allegory on emotional commitment written in anapestic tetrameter.
In the land where I live is a city so fair
That discovered a spice quite exceedingly rare.
And the caravans traveled from far distant grounds
Just to trade for this spice and return to their towns.

As the spice legend grew which is always the way
All the thieves and the rogues sought to steal it away.
In defense of our treasure we chose one and all
To protect our fair city by building a wall.

Now this wall was much higher than any had been
And the portals so sturdy that thieves can't get in.
But I also must warn with a bit of a tear
That the caravans haven't been here for a year.

In the land where I live is a city so fair
That discovered a spice quite exceedingly rare.
And the caravans traveled from far distant grounds
Just to sample this spice and return to their towns.

As the spice legend grew which is always the way
An occasional rogue sought to steal it away.
In defense of our treasure we chose one and all
To protect our fair city by building a wall.

Now this wall was much higher than any had been
And the portals prevented the thieves coming in.
Now we're safe and secure from the threats that we feared
But the caravan visits have all disappeared.
