A Spenserian Sonnet.
My slumbered eyes dwell deep within my heart
Projecting visions held so dear to me,
Of mud-thatched huts built half a world apart
And turf-fires burned across the silver sea.

In contrast to severe reality,
Obstructive compensation from my host,
My dear and lovely Isle of Innisfree
Lies but a breath beyond the Erin coast.

And I can visit when I need it most,
This antidote that cures what I despise.
Contentment now assured I boldly boast
I see more clearly, when I close my eyes.

For there's an island deep within my breast
That beckons me with promises of rest.

Note: The Isle of Innisfree (In-ish-vree) is a mystical island off the coast of Ireland.
