For the June nature poem contest: the reason storms are my favorite weather.
Light hastens from the sky
Clouds pour in
All hide inside
as wind causes my hair to fly
Trees, in theatrical aside,
say, "who is this? She is not mine!"

Light flashes, a brief return
to the familiar and unearned
In midst of my medium,
I have no fear of being burned
No, my heart in sychronous beating
with the sky above is heaving

Angels' tears wash me with glee-
further proof that I am free
Pleasing water pools at my feet
Thunder sends final decree
And I feel I must agree:
Storms within me flow sanguine

While everyone was safe in bed
out window I gladly fled
If you've not ventured
Nothing lost
You will never be storm-tossed
