This is an affectionate poem written in honor of those who are loyal to me.
The Loyal Ones

Never had that much as a child.

My pals were flighty and wild.

Can’t count the hours I spent alone.

Watching tv and playing on my own.

Then arrived day one of high school.

A lonely girl stood where shadows pool.

I approached her and I said “Hi.”

She answered in a tone quiet and shy.

One day spent together ignited a spark.

Time passed and friendship left its mark.

Her sister and two others came close to my heart.

With all of them I never ever wish to part.

Now I have those who listen when I weep.

When skies are dark to my side they leap.

They alone have stood the test of bad times.

So now I honor them with my rhymes.

Dedicated to my friends. I love you.
